SEU Men Add National Marks at Last Chance Meet

Multiple Fire athletes delivered season-best performances ahead of the NAIA Outdoor Championships

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Competing at the SEU Last Chance Meet at Tenoroc High School, the Southeastern men's track & field team wrapped up the regular season with multiple event victories, NAIA qualifying standards, and additions to the program's all-time top-10 lists.

Dario Laing delivered the top performance of the evening in the 400-meter hurdles, capturing first place with a time of 52.01. The mark met the NAIA "A" standard, moved Laing to No. 3 in Southeastern history, and currently ranks No. 7 nationally in the NAIA.

Teammate Kevin Davis Jr. also earned an NAIA "A" standard in the event, placing second in 52.46 while climbing to No. 9 in program history. Cedric Johnson Jr. added a fourth-place finish in 53.79, while Zackary Cho-Sam finished seventh at 56.03.

Jeremiah Rutledge turned in a strong all-around evening in the jumps. Rutledge won the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters, tying for No. 5 in program history. He also placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 6.97 meters, moving into No. 9 on Southeastern's all-time list.

On the track, Derion Ayliffe advanced to the finals of the 100 meters after running 10.85 in preliminaries before placing fourth in the final at 11.31. Ayliffe also competed in the 400 meters, finishing 13th in 54.65.

Jesse Official posted a time of 10.98 in the 100-meter preliminaries before later placing fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.10.

In the middle-distance events, Jack Brooks earned a third-place finish in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 1:57.10.

SEU now turns its attention to the 2026 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, scheduled for May 20-22 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville.
