ORLANDO, Fla.—Southeastern had an impressive showing at the Knights Invitational hosted by UCF over the weekend, posting four times that are at the top of the NAIA right now.
James Williamson III was the winner of the 200 Meters in a time of 20.73 to beat Bethune-Cookman's Nathan Metelus by .23 seconds and Clemson senior Guinove Joanus, who was seventh at last year's ACC Championship.
Keishon Franklin was fifth in the 200, and placed second in the 400 in an NAIA-best time of 46.65. Only Clemson's D'Andre Anderson, who was third at last year's NJCAA Championship beat Franklin.
Davien Worrels was third in the 400 Meters in 47.32.
The 4x100 Relay bounced back after a tough run last week with the top time in the NAIA on Saturday, finishing second to Bethune-Cookman in 40.35 with Franklin, Worrels, Williamson III, and Randall posting the time.
John Perez-Dunn won the 3000 Steeplechase and became the first national qualifier in program history in the event with the top time in the NAIA thus far in 9:23.21.
Williamson III added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Meters in 10.44.
The Fire went 2-3-4 in the 110 Hurdles with
Davonte Vanterpool posting a 14.08,
Darion Carter 14.24, and
Glenn Rodgers 14.43. In the 400 Hurdles,
James Turner hit the 'A' Standard with a time of 53.06 to finish second and Vince Lopez was third in an 'A' Standard time of 53.42.
Kyle Manuel won the Shot Put with a best toss of 17.23 meters which is second in the NAIA, and added a third place finish in the Discus at 47.11 meters.
The Fire will head to the Florida Relays and the Spikes Classic next weekend.
