LAKELAND, Fla.—Sixth-ranked Southeastern remained unbeaten in Sun Conference play after a 6-1 win over No. 15 St. Thomas Friday afternoon.
The Fire took the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to record their third consecutive victory.
Victor Olivera and
Federico Barbon picked up a 6-4 win at No. 2 Doubles, and
Guido Luna and
Enrique Martinez were also 6-4 winners at No. 3. Luna and Martinez are no 7-2 this season, leading the team in doubles win percentage.
Diego Menendez won his 10
th consecutive singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Barbon was a 6-1, 6-4 winner at Line 4 and Luna was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at Line 5.
Martinez closed his straight-sets win at No. 6 Singles by winning the second set tiebreaker 10-8.
Christian Garay was a straight-sets winner at the top flight after battling back to win the first set tiebreaker 8-6 then taking the second set 6-2.
The Fire will take on top-ranked Keiser tomorrow at 1 p.m.
