LAKELAND, Fla.—The top-ranked Fire baseball team returned to its winning ways with a doubleheader sweep of Hastings Monday night.
 
Southeastern improved to 27-1 on the season with a 6-0 win in the first game and a 19-2 win in the second game of the night.
 
Three pitchers combined to work the shutout in the first contest with 
Alex Munroe earning the win by getting a flyout, groundout, and strikeout against the three batters he faced. 
Andrew Long worked two perfect innings, and 
Edward Surinach worked the final four, strikeout out three and coaxing six groundouts against the 14 batters he faced.
 
The top two in the Fire batting order combined for a 4-for-6 showing with four runs, two RBIs and two walks. 
Josh Pigozzo was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and had an RBI single in the sixth. 
Pablo Lanzarote was also 2-for-3, picking up his eighth homer of the season in the third.
 
Brandon Fields had a five-RBI showing in the second game, highlighted by a grand slam in the sixth. 
Adrian Mella added an RBI on a 3-for-3 effort, and 
Gary Lora added three hits and two runs scored in his four at bats.
 
Stephen Cullen's tenth homer of the season in the second brought in two of his three RBIs in the game and gave the Fire a 9-0 lead heading into the third.
 
Jose Marcano had three RBIs, getting a two-run homer in the second.
 
JJ Sanchez moved to 3-0 on the year with two shutout innings on the hill with three strikeouts.
 
The Fire will open up Sun Conference play on Friday with a doubleheader against No. 6 Webber International starting at 3 p.m.
