Thirteen Straight Runs Gives Fire Ninth-Straight Run Rule Win

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern had to dig out of a four-run hole before it ever got to the plate in their game Friday afternoon against St. Francis.
 
The Fire came back to tie the game in the fifth, take the lead in the sixth, and end the game in the seventh by scoring the last 13 runs of the game in an 18-8 win over St. Francis (Ill.) to improve to 25-0 on the season.
 
Trailing 4-0 in the third, Isaac Nunez extended his hit streak to 25 straight games with his seventh homer of the season which scored Josh Pigozzo to cut the deficit in half. The Saints (5-15) pushed the lead to three with an RBI groundout in the fifth, which was answered in the next half inning with a three-run homer by Gary Lora for his team-leading ninth of the season to tie the game.
 
In the sixth, St. Francis got two runs on a single to left field and took an 8-5 lead on a sacrifice fly.
 
Southeastern answered with a five-run sixth, getting a run on a bases-loaded walk, and a single through the left side by Adonys Herrera. Chayce Bryant gave the Fire the lead with a two-run single to left and Nick Winkelmeyer pushed the lead to two with an RBI ground out.
 
David Castillo's fifth homer of the season led off the bottom of the seventh for the Fire and Pigozzo's fourth homer of the season was a two-run shot to right to put the Fire up 13-8.
 
Jose Marcano scored on a wild pitch to put the Fire up six and a double by Lora scored Bryant to Make it 15-8. Stephen Cullen doubled to left to bring home Lora, and Castillo singled to left to bring in Cullen and Winkelmeyer and end the game.
 
Juan Pimentel picked up his second win of the season, working 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Pimentel allowed one walk and one hit to the seven batters he faced. Robb Adams went 5.1 to start the game, striking out eight.
 
Castillo finished the day a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBIs, a walk, and a run scored. Lora was 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Herrera added three hits, and Nunez had two with two RBIs and two runs scored.
 
The Fire will take on No. 14 Bellevue (Neb.) Saturday at noon.
