STERLINGTON, La.—Southeastern improved to 9-0 on the season after closing its four-game road trip to Louisiana with a 12-7 win over No. 14 Central Methodist and a 12-4 win over Louisiana Christian on Saturday.

The Fire had 12 runs on 11 hits in both games and totaled six home runs on the day.

Against Central Methodist, the Fire build a 6-1 lead thanks to a pair of RBIs by Gary Lora, driving in Isaac Nunez with a single up the middle in the first and an RBI fielder's choice in the third. Chayse Bryant smashed a ball over the left field wall later in the inning. In the fifth, Pablo Lanzarote singled past the third baseman to score Adonys Herrera.

In the bottom of the fifth, CMU finally got to starting pitcher Darien Smith who scored his second win of the season by getting in four runs with a pair of RBI doubles and a pair of wild pitches.

Southeastern answered in a big way in the top of the sixth with five runs, getting an RBI double from Nunez, a bases loaded walk to Lora, an RBI fielder's choice by Lanzarote, a first and third stolen base, and an RBI double by Bryant.

Herrera added a sacrifice fly in the seventh for an insurance run. The Eagles picked up a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh for the final runs.

Nick Winkelmeyer and Nunez had three hits each.

The Fire bullpen worked 4.2 innings with one earned run on three hits with six strikeouts to help slow down the Louisiana Christian offense and give the SEU bats a chance to rally back.

Down 3-1 heading to the bottom of the third, the Fire got home runs from Herrera, Lanzarote, and David Castillo to take a 5-3 lead. Michael Haydak made it 6-3 in the fourth with an RBI fielder's choice. Bryant hit a three-run homer in the fifth to make it 9-3, and Haydak hit a sacrifice fly to push the advantage to seven. An RBI double by Nunez made it 11-3 going to the sixth.

Stephen Cullen added a pinch hit homer in the sixth before LCU added a run in the seventh on a bases-loaded ground into double play.

Bryant finished 2-for-3 with Nunez and Castillo going 2-for-4.

Danny Batcher moved to 2-0 on the season, working 2.2 shutout innings with three strikeouts, one hit, and one walk allowed to the nine batters he faced.

The Fire return to action on Thursday at home to take on No. 17 Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. to start a three-game series.
