Track and Field Competes at Keiser Winter Open

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Southeastern track and field competed in the Keiser University Winter Open in West Palm Beach this weekend for their second meet of the new season.
 
In the 60 Meter finals, Southeastern took five of the eight spots in the finals. Davien Worrels, James Williamson III, and Cameron Alamia all advanced to the finals after winning their heats while Deondre Randall and Cameron Guadiano both came in second in their heats to secure a spot in the finals. The Fire took the third through seven spots in the finals led by a time of 6.87 from Worrels.
 
Guadiano also secured an 'A' standard in the 60 Meter Hurdles with a time of 8.19.
 
Alamia, Williamson III, and Worrels all secured 'A' standard times in the 200 Meter finals. Alamia finished in second with a time of 21.36 while Williamson III took third with a time of 21.51. Worrels came in right behind his teammate with a time of 21.54.
 
Joseph Taylor took first in the 400 Meter finals with an 'A' standard time of 47.97, nearly two seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
 
Freshman Jeremiah Rutledge took second in the High Jump with a mark of 1.96 meters.
 
In the Pole Vault, freshman Kevin Parker took the top of the podium with a mark of 4.30 meters.
 
Keishon Franklin secured a 'B' standard in the long jump, securing first-place with a mark of 7.02 meters.
 
At the Grand Valley State Holiday Invite, John Perez-Dunn took fifth in the Mile finals with a time of 4:45.
 
On the women's side, the Fire took the top three spots in the 60 Meter finals with Irmiris Mendez taking first with a time of 7.75. Oluwafikayomi Lawrence came in second at 7.99 with Chelsee Martino coming in third at 8.31.
 
Mendez also recorded an 'A' standard in the 200 Meters, coming in second with a time of 24.96.
 
In the Pole Vault, freshman Aubrey Sellars took first with a mark of 2.74.
 
Freshman Alison Craig took first in the Pole Vault with a mark of 11.73 meters.
 
The Fire men will be back in action on January 12th at the Jimmie Carnes Invite in Gainesville, Fla.
