GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Southeastern Track & Field continued competition Friday at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships inside the Alachua County Sports & Events Center at Celebration Pointe, highlighted by an All-American finish from
Ashlyn Poulin and two Fire athletes advancing to Saturday's finals.
Through seven of 21 scored events on the women's side, Southeastern sits tied for 13th place in the team standings with eight points. Dickinson State leads the field with 20 points, followed by Central Methodist (19) and Ottawa (16).
Poulin delivered the Fire's top finish of the day, earning NAIA All-American honors with a runner-up performance in the women's 3000-meter race walk. The junor crossed the line in 14:15.58, setting a new Southeastern program record in the event.
Jocelyn Rivera (18:01.53) and Juliet Letherbarrow (18:33.75) also competed in the race walk, placing 15th and 17th, respectively.
Olga Gomez produced a strong day across multiple sprint events, qualifying for three finals. Gomez placed fourth in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.52 and also finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles prelims in 8.52. She added a seventh-place finish in the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 24.29 to advance in that event as well. Each performance ranks second in Southeastern program history and secured NAIA All-American status.
Maci Mills also advanced to a national final after finishing fourth in the 800-meter prelims with a time of 2:11.73, a mark that now stands as the fastest in program history.
Elsewhere in the field events,
Alyssa Morley placed 12th in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.62 meters (18' 5¼"), while Charlotte Cattermole-Williams finished 12th in the women's weight throw at 16.83 meters (55' 2¾").
On the men's side,
Dario Laing finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 8.11, narrowly missing a spot in the final.
Kodi Quimby placed 15th in the men's 3000-meter race walk prelims in 14:09.89, and
Isaiah Burns finished 23rd in the long jump with a mark of 6.78 meters (22' 3").
Competition concludes Saturday with two Fire athletes competing for national titles in four events. Gomez will run in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles at 12:45 p.m., the 60-meter dash at 2 p.m., and the 200-meter dash at 3:30 p.m., while Mills will compete in the 800-meter final at 2:20 p.m. ET.
