MT VERNON, Ga.—Southeastern started the indoor season with a strong showing at the Barons Invitational at Brewton-Parker College.
The women's team posted two NAIA 'A' Standards and four 'B' Standards and the men added eight 'A' Standards.
Freshman Cameron Alamia and junior
James Williamson III went 1-2 in the 60 Meters with 'A' Standard times of 6.79 and 6.81, respectively. Williamson took the top spot in the 200 Meters with an 'A' Standard time of 21.27 with Alamia second in 21.34, and
Davien Worrels third in 21.6.
Worrels won the 400 Meters in an 'A' Standard time of 48.38 and
Keishon Franklin was second also posting an 'A' Standard time of 48.4.
Freshman Cameron Guadiano was tops in the 60 Meter Hurdles in an 'A' Standard time of 8.08 seconds.
Irmiris Mendez posted three qualifying times on the women's side, winning the 60 Hurdles in 8.94 seconds. During the prelims, Mendez ran an 'A' Standard 8.8 seconds. She also won the 60 Meters in a 'B' Standard time of 7.66 and the 200 Meters in a 'B' Standard time of 25.22.
Freshman Ar'Briel Scott hit the 'B' Standard in the 60 Hurdles with an 8.98 in the final to finish second.
Ashlyn Poulin became the first female racewalk qualifier in program history with an 'A' Standard of 15:30 in the 3000 Meter Walk.
Next up for the Fire will be a meet at Keiser on Friday.
