LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern scored the first 13 points of Tuesday afternoon's 77-39 win over New College of Florida to improve to 4-3.
The Fire shot 58% in the first half, connecting on 18 field goals with four beyond the 3-point arc. The Mighty Banyans were successful on just six field goals and didn't get on the scoreboard until the 13:31 mark of the first half.
The lead grew to 20 during a 9-3 run by the Fire late in the first with
Milos Stijepovic scoring five of those points and a dunk by
Anthony Duncan with just under 2:00 left in the half put the Fire up 36-13.
Stijepovic finished the day with 12 points off the bench in 12 minutes, going 3-of-3 on 3-pointers. He was the co-leader in scoring along with
Joshua Blazquez, who was 6-of-12 from the field.
Derek Murphy led off the second half with a 3-pointer and also finished in double figures with 11 points. His layup at the 14:08 mark of the half gave Southeastern a 30-point lead for the first time at 55-25.
The Fire will be back in action on Saturday in Kingsport, Tenn. at The Show taking on No. 5 Georgetown at 11 a.m.
