Challenging Week Ahead for Women's Soccer

LAKELAND, Fla- The Fire women's soccer team continues to dominate on the pitch. Heading into the week with a 5-2-1 record (5-0-1 SUN), the defense has not allowed a goal since September 10th, and has not allowed a goal yet in Sun Conference play.

The Fire are coming off of a 2-0 win to the Webber International University Warriors with goals coming from Viktoria Lederer and Naira Lopez. Lederer and Madelyn Davidson lead the team with three goals each. Davidson is also leading the Fire with 11 shots on goal, followed by Lopez with nine.

On October 4th, the Fire will take on the first-ranked team in the conference and eighth-ranked team in the NAIA, SCAD-Savannah. The Fire are currently on an eight-game win streak against SCAD-Savannah, but the Bees have not lost a game this season, starting the year 10-0 (6-0 SUN) and outscoring their opponents 28-3. Abigail Siddall leads the Bees with an impressive seven goals so far on the season while Sydney Chura sits at six.

After the road trip to Savannah, the Fire will return home to host the Ave Maria University Gyrenes on October 7th, a team they have already seen this season. The Fire opened up Sun Conference play with a close 1-0 win over the Gyrenes where Naira Lopez found the back of the net with less than one minute to play. Ave Maria currently holds a 3-2-4 record (1-2-3 SUN), and will look to Cate Cox who leads the team with three goals.
