AVE MARIA, Fla.—Southeastern came away with the title at the Gyrene Invitational as well as the individual medalist.
The Fire were 15 shots clear of host Ave Maria and graduate student
Matthew Soucinek was the individual champion by five shots.
Soucinek led the field in Par 3 and Par 4 scoring at 2.75 and 3.9, respectively, and had a tournament-best 39 pars and 10 birdies.
As a team, the Fire posted 46 birdies in the 54-hole tournament.
Soucinek finished the tournament at five-under with rounds of 71 and 68 on Monday, and an eve-par 72 on Tuesday. His second round 68 was bogey-free.
Adam Crawley was seventh with rounds of 72, 73, and 78.
Chris Greenberry was tied for eighth going 74, 78, 72 and picked up an eagle on Tuesday on the 563-yard, Par 5 eighth.
Zachary Shaw was 13
th with an even-par 72 to start, followed by an 83 and a 74 to close.
Marley Read rounded out the lineup in 16
th with rounds of 81, 77, and 73.
The Fire will host the SEU Fall Invitational on October 30
th at Grasslands.
