Seven Home Duals Highlights 2022-23 Wrestling Schedule

LAKELAND, Fla.- Southeastern University Wrestling Coach Travis Patrick announced the team's 2022-23 schedule, featuring nine home duals. Patrick and the team look to continue their success from the previous season with 11 national qualifiers and a third-place finish at the NAIA National Championship.

The first of seven chances to catch the Fire in action will be on Thursday, October 20th in The Fire Pit for the annual Red & Black Dual. The following week will see SEU open their regular season schedule with a home match against St. Andrews University.

"I am excited about the competition schedule we have put together for the 22-23 season," said Patrick. "We have a great balance of home and away events and a group of guys that are capable of accomplishing some special things this year."

Moving into November, the Fire will see four different opponents throughout the month, starting with a return to the Patriot Open on November 5th in Corban, Ky. On November 13th, SEU travels to Charleston, S.C. for the Citadel Open. That same day, Patrick will also send wrestlers to the Georgia Open, which is being hosted by Emmanuel.

Upon returning, the Fire will travel to back to South Carolina, in the heart of Greenwood, on Friday, November 18 to face off against Lander University. Once the match is completed, SEU will head over to Marietta, Ga. to participate in the Life University Open on Saturday, November 19.

The Fire will enjoy a few weeks off before hosting Montreat College on Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m.

Capping off December, the Fire will host University of Providence, University of Cumberlands, Cumberland University, and Reinhardt University on the 17th for the annual Fire Duals in The Fire Pit. Southeastern will also return to the NWCA National Duals this season after placing each of the last three times they have competed at Freedom Hall in Louisville.

SEU will welcome Keiser and St. Thomas to The Fire Pit on January 14th for the Florida Duals. Afterward they will travel to the Missouri Valley Invite January 20th and 21st.

On February 3rd, the Fire will head to Marietta for the 2nd time, to face off against Life University in a dual. Life is coming off a second-place finish in the NAIA National Championship. The next day, Southeastern will head over to Mt. Vernon, Ga. for a matchup against Brewton-Parker College.

The Senior Day Dual is scheduled on Friday, February 10 at 7pm against Truett McConnell University. The Fire will close out the regular season once again in Marietta, Ga. for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, February 18th.

"Having a large senior class, it was important for us to set a good home schedule and maximize the opportunities for our seniors to compete in the Fire Pit in front of our fan base," said Patrick. "Our schedule also offers our young guys numerous opportunities to compete and develop and earn their way into the line-up."

The NAIA National Championship will take place on March 3rd and 4th in Wichita, Kan.

"Our guys are excited to build from last season and we believe this schedule will have us ready to peak at the right time and compete at the highest level," said Patrick.

Tickets for home matches will go on sale October 1st at SEUFire.com/tickets.
