AVE MARIA, Fla.—Southeastern finished second in The Sun Conference Tournament after knocking off the ninth-ranked host Ave Maria 3-1 in the semifinal and dropping the final 3-1.
Both contests were played to decision.
In the semifinal, the Fire picked up a straight-sets win at Line 1 by Slyvia Liszewski and
Sandy Cao 21-15 and 21-14. The other four matches at least made a third set. The Fire also got wins at No. 4 from
Hannah Kaszubowski and
Emilia Harding 12-21, 21-13, 15-10 and at Line 5 from
Kennedy Jones and
Emily Eurice 21-19, 19-21, 17-15.
The lone point against fifth-ranked Webber International came from the No. 3 pair of
Grace Petty and
Brooke Henry which won 21-13 and 21-12.
