Box Score NEW ORLEANS—The Southeastern University women's tennis team won its fourth Top 25 match and ninth consecutive match with a 4-1 win over No. 13 Loyola on Wednesday.
Southeastern, 16
th in the latest coaches' poll, took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 by
Martina Picardi and
Priscila Baptista along with
Neleah Neiberline and
Irene Lopez. Loyola's tandem of Lucy Carpenter and Fatima Vazquez which are ranked 21
st nationally won the top spot.
In singles play, straight-sets wins by Baptista (6-3, 6-1) at No. 4 and Picardi (6-4, 6-3) at No. 2 gave the Fire a 3-0 lead. The Wolf Pack scored a win at No. 1 to get on the board, but Neiberline came back from a 6-3 loss in the first set with a 6-4 win in the second and took the third 7-6 by winning the tiebreaker 7-2.
The Fire will now take on 15
th-ranked Xavier on Thursday.
