MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.—Southeastern won its first two matches of the season against a pair of receiving votes teams at St. Thomas.
The Fire knocked off Florida Memorial 4-1 and then the host Bobcats 3-2 to start the year 2-0.
The number two and three pair for the Fire went unbeaten to help come away with the wins.
Baylee Warneke and
Alexandra Postlethwaite came away with a 21-14, 21-12 win over Rodriquez and Busque of Florida Memorial and a 21-7, 21-17 win over Johnson and Simmons of St. Thomas at No. 2. At No. 3,
Brooke Henry and
Grace Petty won 21-4 and 21-3 against Newton and McKnight of Florida Memorial and 21-17 and 21-18 against Keegan and Berkley of St. Thomas.
The Fire will be back on the courts February 25
th in Avon Park against St. Andrews and Truett-McConnell.
