Box Score WALESKA, GA.- The No. 24 ranked Southeastern University men's tennis team made history today as they grabbed their highest ranked win in program history after defeating the No. 5 ranked Reinhardt University by an overall score of 5-2.
The Fire went into singles play with a 1-0 advantage after securing the doubles win behind winning scores of 6-3, 6-2, and 6-2.
The top two players for the Fire in
Roy Stepanov and
Enrique Martinez fell to the top two Reinhardt players by scores of 2-1 and 2-0 to allow Reinhardt the 2-1 advantage.
The Fire would go on to win the next four singles matches as
Federico Barbon defeated the number three player 2-1 with scores of 6-3, 2-6, and 6-4.
In the fourth singles match,
Victor Olivera would advance the Fire lead to 4-2 after a 2-0 with scores of 6-1 and 6-2.
Diego Menendez needed only two sets as well to down his opponent, winning his sets 7-5 and 6-4.
The Fire rounded out their 5-2 victory with Theo Preiswerk taking the narrow, come-from-behind 2-1 victory with set scores of 1-6, 7-6 (5), and 6-4.
The Fire will have another challenge in front of them next match as they take on the No. 2 ranked Keiser University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
