ROME, Ga.- The No. 18 Southeastern University Fire men's tennis team earned its first win of the season in dominant fashion, downing the NCAA Division III Berry College Vikings 9-0 at the Rome Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
SEU swept Berry 3-0 in doubles' play, taking 24 of the 30 games played. The Fire then went on to take all six singles' contests in straight sets.
Federico Barbon did not drop a game at line two singles, as he was the first to finish in straight sets.
Diego Menendez quickly clinched the match at line four, dropping just a single game in the first set before wrapping up the second set 6-0.
Nadal Nicolau at line six (6-1, 6-2),
Theodor Preiswerk at line five (6-2, 6-1),
Victor Olivera at line three (6-3, 6-3), and
Roy Stepanov at the top line (6-3, 6-2) closed out the shutout for Southeastern in that order.
The Fire round out their road trip to Georgia tomorrow at the No. 5 Reinhardt University Eagles. Match time is set for 12:00 p.m.
