Lakeland, FLA.- After a lopsided 5-0 victory over the NCAA Division II University of Tampa in an exhibition, the No. 6 Southeastern University women's soccer team will look to add two more to the win column this week as they face off against two Top 15 ranked programs in Indiana Wesleyan (No. 11) and Grace College (No 14). The week will begin in Marion, Indiana on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Indiana Wesleyan and will wrap up in Winona Lake, Indiana at 7 p.m. with a match against the Grace College Lancers.
Thursday will be the first ever matchup against the Fire and Indiana Wesleyan with the Fire coming in with a 1-1 record and the Wildcats holding a 2-1 overall record. As a team, the Wildcats average three goals per game and 15 shots per game. Jackie Norris has been the offensive most valuable player recording a team high four goals in three games played and a .500 shot on goal percentage. Defensively for the Wildcats, Hope Stacker has recorded 11 saves in three games giving her a .733 save percentage and a 2-0 overall record.
The Fire will then travel to Winona Lake to compete against Grace College on Saturday to finish out their week of travel. The Lancers also come into the weekend matchup with a 2-1 record including two shutouts. Averaging three goals a game and 13 shots per game offensively, the Lancers defense has held their opponents to only six shots per game and a shot percentage of .158 mainly on the back of goalkeeper Bethany Blackwood who has recorded an impressive save percentage of .909 after allowing only one goal and 10 saves. Madison Tuma has been a part of five of the team's 9 goals with two goals and assisting on three.
The Fire go into the week of play statistically the best of the three teams after averaging 5.5 goals per 90 minutes and a .593 shot on goal percentage. Graduate forward
Aisha Solorzano has already begun the quest for her fourth consecutive NAIA All-American honors with a team high four goals including a hat trick in the Fire's second contest of the 2021 season against the University of Mobile. Graduate transfer
Shara Randez has also proven to be a pivotal role in the Fire's success with two assists and a goal of her own through two games. Senior All-American goalkeeper
Holly Eddins has managed a .636 save percentage with seven saves and a 1-0 record.
