Bekki Kalaydjiev will represent the Fire, as well as her home nation of Austria, in the upcoming FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The even is actually being hosted in Austria and runs from today through May 30.
In her first season with the program at SEU in 2020-21, Kalaydjiev averaged 12.3 points per game, 4.5 assists per game, and 3.1 steals per game. Additionally, Bekki was named Second Team All-Sun Conference for her efforts.
40 teams (20 men's, 20 women's) from 36 different countries will converge in Graz for the tournament. Six spots (three for each gender) are at stake in the tournament in the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
Austria made headlines in 2019 with the men's team finishing sixth at the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup and the women's team finishing second at the FISU University 3x3 World Cup.
