Fast Start Fuels No. 23 Fire to Convincing Home Win

SEU improves to 10–2 behind strong defensive effort and balanced offensive attack

LAKELAND, Fla. -- No. 23 SEU delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance Tuesday afternoon, rolling past Brewton-Parker, 84–53, inside The Furnace to improve to 10–2 on the season.

The Fire set the tone early, erupting for 30 points in the opening quarter while holding the Barons to just 12. Southeastern shot over 70 percent from the field in the first 10 minutes, using crisp ball movement and aggressive play on the glass to quickly build separation. Mya Herman and Grace Field combined to score 16 of SEU's first-quarter points, helping the Fire jump out to a double-digit advantage before the midway point of the period.

Southeastern continued to control the game in the second quarter, extending the lead to as many as 28 points before halftime. Herman connected on three triples in the period, while Field controlled the interior with her rebounding and physical play. Despite Brewton-Parker finding brief success at the free-throw line, the Fire went into the break with a commanding 50–28 lead.

The pace slowed slightly in the third quarter, but Southeastern never allowed the Barons to gain momentum. SEU limited Brewton-Parker to eight points in the frame, forcing tough shots and turning defense into offense. Alley Haas and Grace Pitzer each knocked down timely perimeter shots to maintain a comfortable cushion heading into the fourth.

Southeastern closed the game with a strong final quarter, outscoring Brewton-Parker 23–17 and pushing the margin to a game-high 36 points midway through the period. The Fire's depth was on full display, as multiple players contributed on both ends of the floor while maintaining energy and intensity.

Herman led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, adding six steals and three assists in an all-around effort. Field recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists. Kristiana Kulackovska added nine points, and Haas chipped in eight. Southeastern finished the afternoon with 27 bench points and forced 26 Brewton-Parker turnovers, converting them into 28 points.

The Fire shot 46.4 percent from the field and outrebounded the Barons 37–32, continuing a strong stretch of balanced play on both ends of the court.

Southeastern returns to action on Friday, December 19, hosting Missouri Baptist at 2 p.m. inside The Furnace as part of the SEU Classic.
