Men's and Women's Tennis Set to Battle Bees for TSC Postseason Positions

LAKELAND, Fla.- The Southeastern University No. 21 men's and RV women's tennis teams are looking to make a postseason push with their regular season finale on Saturday. This Fire men take on the SCAD-Savannah men's team, while the women face the No. 5 ranked SCAD-Savannah women's team.

No. 21 Southeastern Men (6-5, 4-2 TSC) vs. SCAD-Savannah Men (1-4, 1-4 TSC)

RV Southeastern Women (6-6, 3-3 TSC) vs. SCAD-Savannah Women (3-1, 3-1 TSC)


WHAT'S AT STAKE:
- The SEU men's team has already locked up a place in The Sun Conference Tournament field. Regardless of Saturday's result versus the Bees, the Fire will be the third-seeded team and take on second-seeded No. 18 St. Thomas in the TSC Semifinals in Brunswick, Ga. on April 29.
- The SEU women's team needs to defeat the Bees on Saturday and also needs No. 22 St. Thomas to lose to Coastal Georgia on the same day in order to clinch a place in the TSC postseason field. 


FIRE FOCUS:
-The Fire men have won four-straight matches, all in Sun Conference play to currently sit at 6-5 on the season after starting off at 0-4.
-In doubles' play, the duo of seniors Felipe Barbosa and Santiago Haas have won seven-straight at line three doubles to sit at 7-1 overall on the season as a pair.
-Senior Theodor Preiswerk has been solid in the middle of the singles' lineup for Southeastern as of late, having won five straight at line three singles.
-On the women's side, the Fire have alternated wins and losses over their last nine matches.
-In double's play the pairing of junior Priscila Baptista and freshman Abigail Damon have emerged as a successful duo, having won back-to-back matches at top-line doubles.
-At top-line singles, sophomore Beatrice Letizia has been consistent all season, posting a 7-2 record and is ranked the No. 13 singles' competitor in the NAIA by Oracle ITA.


THE BEES:
-Playing a TSC exclusive schedule, the SCAD men have yet to win a match on the court, as their lone win came via forfeit to Webber International.
-The Bees' men have only won three singles' matches and one doubles' match in 2021.
-On the women's side, the Bees have won three-straight in TSC play after dropping its season opener to Keiser 5-2.
-Freshman Yue Yu has been dynamic for SCAD. The Dalian, China native is a perfect 3-0 in singles' play, spending time at both the third and fourth line.
