Men's and Women's Tennis Face Off Against Cavaliers and Eagles This Week

Lakeland, Fla.- The Southeastern University men's (0-4) and No. 21 women's (3-3) tennis teams will face off against Walsh University and Judson University on Wednesday this week on their home courts in Lakeland, Fla.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • The SEU men's team is 0-4 on the year and are coming off of a 5-2 loss to the No. 11 ranked Point University. Santiago Haas and Felipe Barbosa tied the doubles matchup at one but the Fire were unable to secure a doubles victory after dropping their next match to go down 1-0. Alexandre D'Aboville and Barbosa each earned a two-set single victory at lines four and five.
  • Barbosa is 2-2 on the year in singles play and has secured one doubles victory with Haas.
  • As a team, the men are 6-18 in singles play and 2-10 in doubles.
  • The top 25 ranked SEU women currently hold a record of 3-3 with two wins coming over ranked opponents and are coming off a 4-3 win over the Skyhawks of Point University where the Fire were able to take two out of three doubles matches to gain a 1-0 lead going into singles play. Priscilla Baptista, Beatricec Letizia, Abigail Damon, and Gabby Marshall all picked up a singles win.
  • Letizia holds a record of 5-1 in singles play and is on a four match win streak. Damon has registered four wins and two losses.
  • As a team, the women are 17-19 in singles play.
  • Baptista and Mia Dunagan currently hold the best doubles record for the Fire at 2-1.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:
  • On the men's side, the Fire will look to even up the all-time series record at one against Walsh and to remain undefeated against the Judson Eagles and extend the overall record to 4-0.
  • For the women, SEU and Walsh will face off for the first time while the Fire lead the all-time series against the Eagles 3-1.
 
OPPONENTS:
  • The men for the Walsh Cavaliers hold an overall record of 3-3. Jakob Riglewski is 9-2 on the season in singles and 8-2 for his last 10 matches.
  • The Cavaliers are 25-37 in singles play and 13-17 in doubles.
  • As a team, Riglewski and Medina Pulgmart are 7-3 on the season.
  • The Cavalier women are 5-3 on the season.
  • For the Judson Eagles, the men are 2-4 with Alex Veltkamp recording two singles wins and two doubles wins while Augustin Lestelle and Dimitri Ingrassia are 3-3 as a team.
