Carrera's Career Day Leads Fire to 14-0 Victory

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire flexed their muscle on the way to their 14-0 win over NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State University.

Head Coach Adrian Dinkel commented on his team's dominant performance after the game, "I thought it was our most complete game of the season and hopefully we continue to carry that moving forward."

The Southeastern University baseball team belted five home runs, three off the bat of Anthony Carrera who set a program record with nine RBIs in a single game. Carrera hit a two-run shot in the third, and three-run homer in the sixth, followed by a grand slam in the seventh to cap things off.

"I was seeing the ball pretty good out of the hand today," said Carrera. "I was seeing the ball all the way in and just tried to get a good barrel on the ball."

Blake Buckman and Colton Onstott joined the action, each hitting two-run home runs of their own as the Fire never relented after the seal was broken in the third inning.

Christian Camacho was just as dominant on the mound for SEU as he struck out ten batters while giving up just two hits and two walks in seven shutout innings. The transfer needed just nine pitches to retire the side to open the game in the first.

Camacho talked about his quick start after the game, "I just wanted to attack them with full intent. It was early in the morning, so I wanted to attack the zone and get our guys back in the dugout to hit."

The Fire (21-1) return to action on Monday when they host Bellevue University at 6:00 pm.
