LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern University baseball team scored in every inning they took at-bats in on their way to a 25-4 win over the Dordt University Defenders to improve to 23-1 on the season. Their 25 runs is the most the Fire have scored in a game so far this season.
The Fire recorded 18 hits and totaled 18 RBIs with six batters tallying multi-RBI games. It was a staff day on the mound as Southeastern showcased seven different arms against Dordt. Their final line included 15 strikeouts, six hits, and allowed the four earned runs.
Fire head coach
Adrian Dinkel commented on the depth his team showed tonight, "A lot of different guys got a lot of innings and a lot of different guys got a lot of at-bats and they took advantage of it. This has given us some options as a coaching staff as we move on into conference play."
Jayden Hartle,
Luke Clement, and
Ryan Munoz each struck out three batters in their lone inning of work with Hartle retiring the side in order.
Anthony Carrera continued to swing the bat well, notching his third straight game with a home run.
Benito Varela came off the bench to belt a pinch-hit grand slam in the Fire's half of the seventh inning.
Pedro Castellano,
Colton Onstott,
Carter Bridge, and
Luis Cabrera joined Carrera and Varela with multiple RBIs.
The Fire have a day off on Thursday before hosting Wayne State on Friday at 11:00 am.
