LAKELAND, Fla.—The Southeastern tennis teams scored a pair of first-place finishes during the season opening Youth Tennis Foundation Tournament held at the Beerman Family Tennis Courts.
In the Women's Red Draw,
Gabby Marshall took first overall defeating St. Thomas's Sofia De La Fuente 6-1, 6-1 in the final. During the semis, Marshall dropped the first set 6-3 before winning the second 6-3, then 10-7 in the tiebreaker set.
Mia Dunagan also made the semis, winning two matches.
Tyler Glowaki defeated teammate
Timothy Nacca 6-3, 6-1 to secure the Men's Red singles title.
In doubles play,
Theodor Preiswerk and
Felipe Barbosa reached the semifinal round, dropping the single pro set 8-6.
The Fire had two of the four women's doubles semifinalists in
Beatrice Letizia and
Priscila Baptista and Marshall and
Angelique Myrtil. Both pairs dropped their semifinal match, 8-3. Letizia also made the semis of the Women's Black draw in singles play, dropping her match 6-3, 6-3 to Lara Todoro de Oliveira of Ave Maria.
The teams will face Coastal Georgia on Saturday in their first Sun Conference matches of the season at 1 p.m.
