Â
Southeastern opens the 2022 season on February 19 in Miami Gardens, where the Fire will take on Sun Conference opponents Florida Memorial University and St. Thomas University at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. respectively. Florida Memorial is the reigning SUN Beach Volleyball Champion.
Â
"I am really looking forward to this beach season and continuing to work with this group of athletes," commented SEU head coach
Audrey Goldsberry. "They are extremely enthusiastic about beach and are already working hard to prepare for the season."
Â
On February 25-26, the Fire head to Lake Wales for a pair of conference bouts versus St. Andrew's University and Truett McConnell University. Both programs are in their first seasons as SUN affiliate members for beach volleyball.
Â
"This year's conference schedule provides us with more games along with depth of competition," shared Coach Goldsberry. "I am excited for the additional schools who have joined our beach conference and the opportunity to travel more than we have in the past."
Â
On March 19, SEU hits the road to take on Ave Maria University. Southeastern closes out the regular season in Gulf Shores, Ala. April 1-2 versus another pair of new SUN affiliate members in University of Mobile and William Carey University.
Â
The 2022 Sun Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament will run from April 8-9 at the campus site of the regular season champion.
Â
The 2022 NAIA Women's Beach Volleyball National Invitational will take place from April 21-23 in Panama City Beach on the Russell Fields City Pier Courts.
Â
"Following the fall season we are well over 50% freshman so our challenge for beach will be overcoming lack of collegiate experience and quickly coming in with strong mindsets and aggressive training," added Coach Goldsberry.
