DAYTON, Tenn.- The Southeastern University women's basketball team started off the 2021 season with a 3-0 trip to Montana and will now look ahead to the Bryan Invitational in Dayton, T.N. this weekend as they take on Reinhardt University on Friday at 5 p.m. and host school Bryan College on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Eagles of Reinhardt took their 2020-21 season all the way to the AAC Championship Semifinal where they fell to Union by a score of 81-75 for only their third loss of the season as they ended their year 27-3. Senior Catherine Shope, last season's leading scorer and rebounder for the Lions, returns this season for her senior campaign after averaging 14.8 points per games as well the Abi Haynes who was the Lion's second leading scorer with an average of 17.1 points per game, aiding the Lions to an average of 74.2 points per contest.

Bryan will open the season ranked No. 1 in the AAC Coaches' Preseason Poll for the fourth consecutive season after winning the AAC Tournament in the 2020-21 season and advancing to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round Final where they fell to No. 1 ranked Campbellsville to finish with a 29-2 record. The Lions return their previous leading scorer, senior Destiny Kassner, who registered 448 total points and a shooting percentage of .584 as well as the 2020-21 leading rebounder in Kaitlynn Hennessee who ended the season with 180.

Southeastern currently holds a record of 3-0 as well as a win against Barry University in an exhibition and is coming off of a 26-3 season which brought them all the way to the NAIA National Tournament were they lost out in the round of 16. So far this season the Fire have outscore their opponents 236-193 and average 78.7 points per game for a 14.4 scoring margin. Offensively, the Fire have registered a .484 field goal percentage and an impressive .457 percentage from behind the three point line.
Angela Perry is the Fire's leading scorer and rebounder through three games with 54 points for an average of 18 per game and 26 rebounds.
Marta Aranda leads the team in steals with nine as well as the number two on the team in points with 41.
