LAKELAND, Fla.—After Saturday's 3-0 win over USCB, the Southeastern University women's soccer team takes their 3-0 record into a busy week with three more games.
The Fire's lone home game of the week is Monday, September 28
th when they host the Florida National Conquistadors at 5:00 pm. The remaining two games this week are on the road for the Fire as they travel to Webber International on September 30
th at 5:00 pm, and Ave Maria on October 3
rd at 7:00 pm.
Senior
Aisha Solorzano tallied her first goals of the season in Southeastern's 3-0 victory over the USCB Sand Sharks. Two first half goals set her squad up to win their third game of the season. Transfer sophomore
Naira Lopez continued her fast start in a Fire uniform with a goal in the second half, her sixth of the season.
Junior goalkeeper
Holly Eddins and the rest of the Fire defense turned away any Sand Shark pressure as they only registered one shot on goal which resulted in a save by Eddins.
Eddins and the Fire have not allowed a goal this season and lead the NAIA in shutouts with three. Lopez enters this week ranked seventh in the NAIA with six goals. Lopez also leads the Sun Conference in shots on goal per game with four.
Florida National visits Southeastern with just one game under their belt so fat this season, a 3-0 loss to Ave Maria. Goalkeeper Vanesa Osorio stood out in the loss as she recorded 14 saves. FNU finished the 2019 season with a 7-11-1 record and was the USCAA National Runner-Up.
Southeastern then travels to Babson Park to face the Webber International Warriors. The Warriors carry a 1-2 overall record into this week with their one win coming via forfeit by Trinity Baptist. Webber is 0-2 against Sun Conference opponents after their 2-1 loss to Warner on Saturday. The Warriors second leading goal scorer from a year ago, Leah Borders, returns this year after netting five goals and assisting on five others.
The Fire are 6-9-1 overall against Webber but have won the past five matchups including a 7-0 victory last season. Solorzano tallied an assist in the winning effort.
Southeastern concludes their busy week with a trip to Ave Maria on Saturday. Ave enters play this week with a 2-1 record and plays Keiser University before hosting the Fire. The Gyrenes suffered their first loss in Saturday's game against St. Thomas 1-0 in double overtime. Senior Emily Dalton leads the team in goals with five and shots on goal with eleven. Junior goalkeeper Maddie Samuelson is tied for third in the Sun Conference with eleven saves through three games.
Southeastern is looking to remain unbeaten against Ave Maria as they have won all 15 matchups between the two programs. The Fire triumphed to a 10-0 win last season as
Kristal Pesina scored her only goal of the season and Solorzano added two more assists.
Gabriela Labrador added an assist of her own.
