BROOKINGS, S.D.—Southeastern University had five All-American placements during the final day of competition at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships at Dakota State University.
Leading the way was freshman
Ashley Epps in the Women's 60 Meter Hurdles, missing out on the championship by just a thousandth of a second. Epps finished second in a time of 8.662.
Davonte Vanterpool became the first men's indoor All-American in program history with his fourth-place finish in the Men's 60 Meter Hurdles in a time of 8.03.
The men had another first as
Kyle Manuel became the school's first All-American in the throws with a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a best mark of 16.51 meters.
Namiah Simpson became a two-time indoor All-American with a seventh-place finish in the Women's 400 Meters in 56.30.
Simpson was also the second leg of the Women's 4x400 Relay team which placed fourth in a time of 3:48.57. She was joined by
Rachel Boyd,
Oluwafikayomi Lawrence, and
Courtney Gales. Simpson and Gales were also part of the 4x400 Meter Relay team that was third at outdoor nationals last year.
The Fire also got an 11
th place finish from
Julia Rohm in the Women's 3000 Meters in a time of 10:32.71. In the Women's Triple Jump,
Idalia Romero-Talbert was 22
nd with a mark of 11.11 meters and
LaDaijahnae Miller was 27
th with a mark of 11.01.
In the team standings, the women scored 15 points to place 17
th and the men totaled nine to place 29
th.
