Women's Tennis Prepared to Face Ranked Competition in Georgia

LAKELAND, Fla.- The No. 22 Southeastern University women's tennis team has packed their bags and is set to embark on a two-match non-conference road trip to The Peach State versus premier competition. While in Georgia, the Fire will first take on the No. 8 Brenau University Tigers before facing the No. 19 SCAD-Atlanta Bees.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • At 3-0 on the season, SEU has yet to concede more than one point in a match on the season.
  • The Fire have four individuals who are 3-0 in singles' play thus far: senior Sharienne Ricardo at the top line, sophomore Beatrice Letizia at the number two line, junior Angelique Myrtil at the fourth line, and sophomore Priscila Baptista in the fifth position.
  • Baptista has shut out her opponent in four of the six sets she has compiled in singles' play.
  • The Fire were 4-3 last season versus NAIA ranked or receiving votes' opponents.
  • This weekend's matches will mark the 29th and 30th contests Southeastern has played in The Peach State all-time. The Fire are 16-12 in matches completed in Georgia.
 
FIRE FIRSTS:
  • This marks the first ever meeting between Southeastern and Brenau or SCAD-Atlanta.
 
THE TIGERS:
  • Brenau is coming off a 14-7 2019 season in which they advanced to the NAIA National Quarterfinals.
  • Sophomore Elyse Lavender is currently ranked the number one women's individual in the NAIA by the International Tennis Association.
  • The Tigers also feature the 40th ranked singles' player in junior Peeraya Charoensirisutthikul and 41st ranked individual in sophomore Juana Zambrano.
 
THE BEES:
  • SCAD-Atlanta is coming off a 10-8 2019 campaign in which they advanced to the NAIA First Round.
  • The Bees opened up the season with a 5-2 loss to Anderson University back in October.
  • Seven of the 10 players of the SCAD-Atlanta roster are underclassmen.
