Women's Tennis Remains Undefeated in Handling of St. Thomas

LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 22 Southeastern University Fire women's tennis team earned a 6-1 victory over Sun Conference opponent St. Thomas this Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated thus far in the season.

In doubles play, the duo of sophomore Beatrice Letizia and junior Angelique Myrtil defeated the Bobcats' second best 6-1. Then at No. 3 doubles, sophomores Priscila Baptista and Mia Dunagan tallied another win for the Fire to guarantee a point heading into singles matches.

The Fire dominated in singles competition, going 5-1 against the Bobcats. 

At No. 2 singles, Letizia earned a victory for the Fire after three sets of play. The Italy-native beat her opponent 6-3 in the first set, then lost in the second set in a tiebreaker 7-3. In the finale, Letizia secured a win defeating STU's Pena 10-5. 

Women's tennis will be back on the courts on January 1st, as they head on the road to play State College of Florida - Manatee in Sarasota, Fla. Match time is still to be determined.
