FIRE FOCUS:

  • Southeastern opened the season 1-1 on a two game road trip, featuring a 4-3 double-overtime loss to No. 5 Benedictine and a 1-0 win over Evangel.
  • Senior forward Uchenna Kanu has picked up where she left off in 2018 as a prolific offensive catalyst, netting two goals against BC and assisting on the lone goal at EU.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Holly Eddins is coming off a full-90 shutout against Evangel in which she recorded four saves.
  • Southeastern has won five-straight home openers, with the last three home-opening wins coming as shutouts.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
  • This marks the first ever meeting between Southeastern and Grace.
  • The Fire take on the TMU Bears for the fourth time all-time. SEU leads the all-time series 2-1. SEU defeated TMU 4-0 last season in the NAIA Opening Round.
  • This is just the second meeting all-time between Southeastern and Columbia International. The Fire defeated the Rams 2-0 during the 2016 season.

THE LANCERS:
  • The Lancers are off to a perfect 4-0 start on the season, having outscored their opponents 15-1 to open up 2019.
  • Grace returns their top scorer from 2018 in senior forward Liz Van Wormer. Coming off a 13 goal, eight assist junior campaign, Van Wormer has already found the back of the net five times this season.
  • True freshman midfielder JJ Aalbue has been a solid ball distributor for the Lancers thus far, having recorded five assists through the first five matches.

THE BEARS:
  • Truett McConnell is 2-0 after a pair of wins over fellow Sun Conference members Thomas (2-1) and Warner (5-0).
  • After losing their leading goal scorer from a year ago in Megan McCall (nine goals, four assists), junior midfielder Tori Wilson has looked to step up, leading TMU with two goals scored thus far.
  • Five different players have accounted for the remaining TMU goals scored.

THE RAMS:
  • Columbia International has throttled its way through the first two matches of the season, defeating Allen 11-0 and Tocoa Falls 5-0.
  • The Rams feature three different players with three or more goals on the season.
  • Senior midfielder Sotria Tsilonis, who led CIU with six goals last season, as already scored three times in 2019.

DORIAN RELIEF:
  • Southeastern will also be collecting supplies for those affected by Hurricane Dorian during its upcoming home athletic events.
  • Fans are encouraged to bring canned food, medicine and medical supplies for clinics, along with water, Powerade, blankets, baby supplies, paper goods, MRE's, and generators to contests this weekend.
  • Items will be collected at Thursday night's women's soccer game, Friday night's men's soccer game, and Saturday morning's cross country meet at Holloway Park.
  • Admission to these contests will be complimentary.
