Men's Tennis Set to Face Coastal Georgia in TSC Semifinal

Third-Seeded Fire face Second-Seeded Mariners for Place in Conference Championship Game

LAKELAND, Fla.- For the first time since 2016, the receiving votes Southeastern University men's tennis team is set to compete in The Sun Conference Tournament in Brunswick, Ga. After finishing 13-7 on the season, including 4-3 in Sun Conference play, the Fire clinched the number three seed and a place in the TSC Semifinals. SEU will be tasked with the host school No. 21 College of Coastal Georgia Mariners, with a spot in the championship match at stake.

FIRE FOCUS:
  • Southeastern holds a .576 win percentage in singles' play and .712 win percentage in doubles' play heading into The Sun Conference Tournament.
  • Sophomore Santiago Haas has won three straight at No. 2 Singles heading into the conference tournament. Haas was the deciding victory in a 5-4 win over Webber International that secured SEU a place in the conference postseason.
  • The duo of senior Hugo Pires and freshman Enrique Martinez have hold a 15-1 record on the season in doubles' play and have won 11 straight.
  • During that stretch of 11 straight matches won, Pires and Martinez have out-totaled opposing duos 90-40 in games won.

All-TIME SERIES:
  • This marks just the third meeting all time between the Fire and the Mariners. Coastal Georgia leads the series 2-0.
  • SEU fell to CCGA in a tough 5-4 match in the regular season after the Fire swept doubles' play 3-0.

THE MARINERS:
  • This marks back-to-back appearances for the Mariners in The Sun Conference Tournament in their second year as a member school. CCGA fell to Keiser in last season's TSC Final 5-1.
  • CCGA carries a .604 doubles' win percentage and .583 singles' win percentage into the conference postseason.
  • Coastal Georgia is led by a powerhouse at the top of the lineup in sophomore Matthew Hulme. The Brisbane, Australia native is perfect 16-0 at the No.1 singles' position.
  • The duo of Eric Gravelle and Khanyakweze Ramokgopa have won three-straight at No. 2 doubles.
