Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – It was a successful day for the Fire's women's tennis team as they took the courts against Davis and Elkins College this afternoon. Southeastern dominated the competition beating the Senators 8-1.
SEU went 2-1 in doubles play. Angelique Mytril and
Gabby Marshall took control as they earned the first victory for the Fire, beating D&E opponents 8-3 at No. 2.
Priscila Baptista and
Mia Dunagan were successful at No. 3 doubles, winning 8-1.
Southeastern dominated in singles play, sweeping the Senators for a 6-0 record.
Sharienne Ricardo earned a 2-0 victory, winning the first set 6-2 and the second set due to retirement.
At No. 2 and No. 6 singles,
Beatrice Letizia and Dunagan didn't give up a single point and swept their opponents 6-0 in both sets.
Mytril and Baptista both took command of their matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, as they beat D&E foes 6-1 in two sets.
Gabby Marshall was resilient in her performance as well, succeeding 6-2 in the first set and 6-1 in the second set to earn the last victory for Southeastern.
The Fire are set to take the courts again on Tuesday the 12
th, as they take on Aquinas College at 11:30 a.m.
