LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory against Davis & Elkins College. The Fire now advance to 7-5 overall in the season.
SEU went undefeated in doubles play, winning all three matches. Starting off the day was
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega at No. 1 doubles, succeeding 8-4 against D&E's best.
The No. 2 duo,
Hugo Pires and
Enrique Martinez won 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 8-6.
Santiago Haas and
Pedro Bahnuik earned a victory for the Fire, defeating their opponents 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Southeastern went 4-2 in singles play, both losses from being defeated in deciding tiebreakers.
Junior from Brazil, Barbosa won his match in two, taking the first set 6-2 and the second set 6-4 versus D&E's best.
Ortega, another junior from Brazil, swept his opponent 6-0 in both sets at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5,
Tyler Glowaki beat Senators foe 6-1 in two sets.
Finishing off the day for Southeastern was senior,
Hugo Pires at No. 6 singles, thrashing his opponent 6-0 in the first set and 6-1 in the second.
The Fire return to the courts on Tuesday the 12
th, as they take on Aquinas College at 11:30 a.m.
