Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire men's tennis team were defeated by No. 25 Indiana Wesleyan by a deficit of one. Southeastern dominated in doubles play, however loss in singles play to the Wildcats for the result of 5-4.
SEU started out the day with a 2-1 record in doubles play.
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega beat their Wildcat opponents 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
Hugo Pires and
Enrique Martinez triumphed Indiana Wesleyan's No. 3 duo with a score of 8-2.
The Fire weren't as successful in singles play as they were in doubles play.
At No. 4 singles,
Enrique Martinez won in two sets, taking the first set 6-3 and then sweeping his opponent 6-0 in the second set.
Thomas Ortega earned another victory for the Fire, beating his opponent in two sets as well (6-2, 6-1).
Southeastern will return to the courts on Friday the 8
th, as they take on Davis & Elkins College at home. The matches are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
