Box Score LEBANON, Tenn. – It was another successful day for the Fire's women's tennis team as they defeated No. 13 Cumberland University 5-4. Southeastern has tied their season winning record since the program first began with 12 wins.
In singles play, the Fire went two for three on the day.
SEU's best,
Sharienne Ricardo and Beatrice were successful defeating Cumberland's best 8-6.
Priscila Baptista and
Mia Dunagan earned another victory for the Fire, as they beat their opponents 8-6 as well at No. 3 doubles.
Unfortunately, the Fire started things off slow in singles play, conceding the first three matches to the Phoenix. However, they were able to pick up the last three singles game of the day to solidify the win over CU.
Brazilian-native and freshman, Priscila obtained a win for SEU in two sets (6-2, 6-1) at No. 4 singles.
Sophomore,
Gabby Marshall came back to win her match in extra innings. Marshall lost the first set 6-3, then came back to win the last two sets 6-0.
Dunagan earned the last victory of the day for SEU, as she defeated Phoenix rival in two sets (7-5, 6-3).
The Fire will finish the journey in Tennessee tomorrow (03/23) as they take on Milligan College. The matches are set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
