Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – The Fire women's tennis team won at home today against Aquinas College, defeating the Saints 8-1 overall. Southeastern now advance to nine wins on the season.
Starting off the morning for the Fire,
Sharienne Ricardo and
Beatrice Letizia defeated Aquinas' best 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 3 duo, Priscilla Baptista and
Mia Dunagan earned another victory for SEU, winning 8-2.
The Fire were successful in singles play, sweeping all Saints opponents.
Ricardo was successful in this afternoons match, beating Saints foe in two sets at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-3).
Letizia and Angelique Mytril at No. 2 and No. 3 both defeated Saints rivals 6-1 in both sets.
At. No. 4 singles, Baptista dominated in two sets as well, winning the first set 6-2 and the second set 6-1.
Gabby Marshall beat her opponent in the first set 7-6, taking the tiebreaker 6-2. Sophomore, Marshall solidified a victory for Southeastern winning the second set 6-0.
To end the day for the Fire, Dunagan won in two sets (7-5, 6-2) at No. 6 singles.
Southeastern return to the courts tomorrow to play against Missouri Baptist University. The matches are set at 11:30 a.m.
