Box Score ORLANDO, Fla.—The Fire men's tennis team was a point away from a win over NCAA Division II Davenport in its dual match at the USTA Tennis Center in Orlando.
Playing by NCAA rules, the Fire received one point for going 2-1 in doubles play, getting wins at No. 2 from
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega (6-1) and at No. 3 from
Enrique Martinez and
Hugo Pires (7-6).
Ortega also got the Fire a point at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Lucca Marcheschi was responsible for the final point, scoring a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
The Fire will take on No. 2 Keiser on Saturday in West Palm Beach.
