Box Score ST. PETESBURG. Fla. – The Southeastern University's men's tennis picked up their third win in a row on the road against Eckerd College. SEU was down after doubles play, however were dominant in singles play, to end the day with a 4-3 victory over the Tritons.
The Fire were defeated in doubles play 2-1.
Hugo Pires and
Enrique Martinez were efficient beating their opponents 6-2 at No. 3.
After a slow start, Southeastern made up some ground and came back from a deficit score, defeating Eckerd 4-2 overall in singles play.
No. 1
Felipe Barbosa won the first singles game of the day with a score of 2-0 (6-3, 6-4).
Senior,
Lucca Marcheschi was the next player to earn a point for the Fire, winning in two sets as well (6-4, 6-3).
At No. 5 singles,
Tyler Glowaki won the first set 7-6, taking the tie breaker 7-5.
Finishing the day off for Southeastern,
Thomas Ortega triumphed Eckerd opponent, winning the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-2.
The Fire hope to continue their winning streak as they go on the road to take on Webber International on February 27
th. Matches are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
