Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern women's tennis team lost their first competition of the season to fellow Sun Conference member SCAD by a score of 7-2 on Saturday.
SCAD is ranked 11
th in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
In doubles play, the Fire were defeated 2-1 against the Bees, losing at both No.1 and No. 2.
Priscila Baptista and
Mia Dunagan were the only women's Fire team to win doubles play, winning their match 9-7 against SCAD No. 3 duo.
SCAD sealed their team a win with a 6-1 victory over SEU's singles competition.
At No. 2 singles,
Beatrice Letizia was successful today, winning both of the sets 6-1. The Italian-native is 4-0 overall in the season, winning at No. 2 singles.
Although no other Fire player won their singles competition, Dunagan took her matchup to three sets. Winning the first set 6-4, and then losing the second set 6-4. The match went into an extra game, but unfortunately Dunagan was defeated 13-11.
Women's tennis will be back in action on February 23
rd to go against Ave Maria University at 1:00 p.m.
