Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Southeastern men's tennis registered an impressive 6-3 victory over SCAD University to collect their third win of the season.
The Fire started the competition off strong by sweeping doubles play. At No.1 doubles,
Lucca Marcheschi and
Santiago Haas won their match 8-4 over the Bees top pairing.
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega also picked up a win in doubles with an 8-1 thrashing over SCAD's no. 2 duo. After today's competition, Barbosa and Ortega are 4-1 at No. 2 doubles thus far in the season.
Hugo Pires and
Enrique Martinez finished out doubles play, winning 8-2 at No. 3.
Overall, in singles play, the Fire went 3-3 against the Bees. At No. 3 singles, Marcheschi won the match, taking the first set 6-3 and second set 6-2. Redshirt freshman,
Tyler Glowaki won at No. 5 singles, triumphing both sets 6-1. Sao Paulo, Brazil-native, Ortega was successful today at No. 6 singles, beating his opponent 6-0 in both sets.
The Fire will take the courts again on February 23
rd, to match up against Ave Maria University. Southeastern will be hosting the competition and are scheduled to begin at 1:00p.m.
