Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—The men's tennis competition this morning featured a plethora of firsts for the Fire. Most notably, Southeastern captured its first win of the season with a 5-0 triumph over Judson University.
The Fire needed just five matches to sweep the Eagles, who had won eight of their previous nine contests coming into the dual with SEU.
Southeastern took all of the points in doubles competition for the first time this year, putting themselves in a favorable position going into singles play with a 3-0 advantage.
Thomas Ortega and
Felipe Barbosa moved to 5-4 on the season in doubles play with an 8-2 victory as the no. 2 pairing. The remaining doubles pairs in

Pedro Bahnuik each played together for the first time this year. Both duos notched wins over their opponents with 8-6 and 8-4 games, respectively.
Ortega retired Riley Rowan in straight sets (6-4, 6-3), while Pires defeated Joshua Gronowski in three sets to clinch the match for Southeastern with his first singles victory of the season.
The Fire will try to string together back-to-back wins as they face No. 25 Indiana Wesleyan tomorrow at the Edgewood Tennis Center. Matches are set to start at noon.
