Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—The Fire men's tennis team lost their sixth straight match of the year, dropping to 0-4 in Sun Conference play after a 6-3 defeat to Webber Wednesday afternoon.
Southeastern was able to edge the Warriors in two of the three doubles contests, as the Fire took a 2-1 advantage into singles play.
Felipe Barbosa and
Thomas Ortega notched their third consecutive doubles win with an 8-6 result, while
Hugo Pires and
Aaron Skingley, who competed together for the first time this season, took a 9-7 match.
Despite the one-point advantage, Ortega was the lone Southeastern player to claim a victory in singles competition, defeating his opponent in straight sets at the #3 position.
Webber took the remaining five matches, including three tight three-set decisions to escape with a 6-3 win over the Fire.
The Fire will look to bounce back when they go on the road to take on Coastal Georgia on Saturday.
