Fire Gear Up for Weekend Showdown Versus Gyrenes

No. 2 Southeastern Looks to Continue TSC Dominance

LAKELAND, Fla. – After four consecutive weeks with multiple games played, the No. 2 Southeastern University women's basketball team enjoys a lighter one game slate this week. The Fire look to advance their marks of 48 straight regular season wins and 35 consecutive Sun Conference contests won, as they host Ave Maria on Saturday night. SEU owns an average margin of victory of 39.6 over TSC opponents this season and has not allowed a conference foe to score more than 55 points in a single game.

GAME: No. 2 Southeastern (22-0, 13-0 TSC) vs. Ave Maria (17-5, 9-4 TSC) Saturday 5:00 p.m.

RICHTER RISES: Senior guard Ana Richter continues to elevate her game as of late, which was already at a premier level. Over her last six games she is averaging 25.8 points per game, shooting 71% from the floor, averaging 10.5 rebounds, and averaging 3.8 assists. Her averages in rebounds and assists are stark increases from her averages from the previous six contests to those, which were 6.5 boards and 1.5 helpers per game. Now a seven time TSC player of the week this year, Richter now owns sole possession as the leading NAIA Division II scorer (24.36).

FIRE ALL-TIME: Southeastern has won five straight versus Ave Maria, having not dropped a contest to the Gyrenes since 2/24/15. SEU trails the all-time series versus AMU 12-10.

THE GYRENES: After starting of 2018 1-3, Ave Maria has now rattled off five straight victories to get back on track. Senior guard Lauren Gillingham has provided veteran leadership to help the Gyrenes stay the course. During the winning streak, Gillingham has averaged 15.4 points and has gotten to the charity stripe 33 times, where she has shot 87.9%. Ave Maria will also lean heavily on sophomore forward Sarah Miller, who is averaging a double-double on the season with 13.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest. Miller's average boards per game ranks her 10th in NAIA DII.
