LAKELAND, Fla. – For the second consecutive season, forward
Uchenna Kanu has been named The Sun Conference Player of the Year.
Kanu was awarded the distinction at The Sun Conference Women's Soccer Banquet, held on the campus of Southeastern University earlier this evening.
The junior netted 26 of her nation-leading 46 goals versus conference opponents, including five hat tricks versus TSC sides. The Abia, Nigeria native was a six-time Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week this season and an NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week. In addition, she was named First Team All-Conference.
With 50 goals on the season, Kanu is three scores away from tying the NAIA single-season goals record.
Kanu and the Fire look to capture their second-straight Sun Conference Tournament Championship tomorrow evening as they face Keiser tomorrow night in the Final. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
