Box Score 2 MOBILE, Ala.—The Fire men's tennis team won its first match of the season with a 6-3 win over Spring Hill before taking a 7-1 loss against No. 19 Mobile.
The Fire picked up wins at #1 singles in both matches with
Felipe Barbosa coming away with a win against Alejandro Hastings of Spring Hill and
David Veliz knocking off Javier Ahumada of Mobile.
Against Spring Hill, Nate Gangelhoff picked up a straight-sets win at #3 singles, and
Max Yelken recorded his first win with the Fire at #6 singles, knocking off Ferdinand Amanor 6-1, 6-1. The Fire were also perfect in doubles play.
Veliz was responsible for the lone win against Mobile.
The Fire will conclude the trip Saturday with a match against Loyola (La.)
