Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—The last few seasons have produced some great matches between Southeastern and SCAD in men's tennis.
This year was no exception as the Fire came away with a 5-4 win to knock off the Bees for a second straight season.
Wins in doubles play by
David Veliz and Hugo Pires (8-2) and
Thomas Ortega and
Felipe Barbosa (8-6) set the tone for Southeastern.
In singles play,
Thomas Ortega picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at #5 to give SEU its third point. Barbosa scored a 6-1, 6-4 win at #6, and Veliz followed shortly thereafter with the clinching point at #1 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Fire return to action next Saturday at home against Ave Maria at 11 a.m.
