Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—The Fire volleyball team totaled 54 kills on 94 swings in a 3-0 victory over Ave Maria Wednesday night, to improve to 9-3 in Sun Conference play.
A .468 team attacking percentage was boosted by the first set, which saw the Fire record 17 kills on 20 swings, with a single attacking error for an .800 success rate. Trailing 4-3, the Fire went on a 7-2 run to take control. Freshman
Kaity Reed recorded four of her match-high 15 kills in that set.
The set closed on a 6-1 run with the Fire picking up a 25-10 win.
Southeastern (19-6) won eight of the first 11 rallies in the second set, with three points coming on Ave Maria (4-16, 4-9 TSC) attacking errors. After trailing by as many as eight in the set, the Gyrenes put together a 5-1 run to get back within three, thanks to a pair of kills by Talia Samuels.

Kiana Sawtelle, and Reed all had kills with a Gyrene attack error to take the set 25-19.
Sawtelle recorded four kills in the final set, won 25-15, and finished the night with 12 kills, 13 digs, and a .526 attacking percentage.
Kaitlin Boyd posted a .786 attacking percentage, scoring on 11 of her 14 attacks. She was also in on four blocks, and added two digs.
Keniah Rivera-Santiago (13), and
Natalie Anderson (11) were also in double figures in digs, with Anderson leading the match with 41 assists, and added an ace and a kill.
Southeastern will travel to first-place St. Thomas on Friday.
